Be water my friend: mesh assimilation

Abstract Inspired by the ability of water to assimilate any shape, if being poured into it, regardless flat, round, sharp, or pointy, we present a novel, high-quality meshing method. Our algorithm creates triangulated mesh, which automatically refines where necessary and accurately aligns target, given as point cloud, volumetric function. core optimization iterates over steps for mesh uniformity, cloud projection, topology corrections, always guaranteeing integrity $$\epsilon $$ ϵ -close surface reconstructions. In contrast with similar approaches, our simple operates on an individual vertex basis. This allows automated seamless transitions between phases rough shape approximation fine detail reconstruction. Therefore, proposed equals established techniques in terms accuracy robustness but supersedes them simplicity better feature reconstruction, all controlled single parameter, intended edge length.
